Aniara Freischütz I

 At the moment I´m preparing the stage design for my "Freischütz" production in Magdeburg. So I´m busy with deers and hunters and other romantic aspects in this opera. Here I present some of my favorite pictures from my "Freischütz-Collection".

 

 Shadows are very important in the romantic view of all the introspective procedures of "Freischütz" Even in the music you can listen to this dark sounds which represent the deep and hidden part of a scared soul. So where the bad is, there is no light, but shadow...
In the words of Max: " Oh, diese Sonne! Furchtbar steigt sie mir empor!"

For me this picture represents the difficult relation between Agathe and Max. The white room shows incredibly clear how their love is full with fear, proud and loneliness.

 This black room could be understand as the negative, the shadow part of the daily light world, where the obscure and surrealistic elements build a sort of parallel universe
